During these years, self esteem can be crushed in an instant. I’m sure we all have our own survival stories at this tenuous and fragile age. I can’t even imaging how difficult this age would have been for me with social media thrown into the mix. I know I get hit with the comparison trap myself. Thinking about how it would have felt at that age when it is SO important to fit in with your friends, and seeing in real time everyone going to the party you weren’t invited to is mind boggling.
This is where I believe participating in the Teen Photography Team in the Wichita, KS area can be really helpful. As a former elementary school teacher, I possess the skills to create a safe and nurturing environment, build relationships with a variety of personalities, and create an empowering experience for your teen or tween.
Teen Photography Themes
Each month, we have a theme for our Teen Team in Wichita, KS. Some of our themes have been dance, girl power, boho, playground, fun in the sun, must love dogs, just to name a few. Locations vary and are usually on the west side of Wichita. We’ve also utilized local playgrounds, parks, and downtown Wichita. How Teen Team Works
Teen Team photoshoots are held once a month, usually on the second Sunday of each month. Participants know the themes well in advance. Each girl gets approximately 5 minutes of individual camera time. During this time, the other girls (and moms) are socializing, and also encouraged to hype up the girl who is in front of the camera. Everyone has the jitters when they first start, but that soon goes away. I direct them every step of the way, and hype them up to feel like a rockstar. After each girl has been photographed individually, I do group photos.
After the shoot, I cull the images, and upload them to an online gallery. Each participant gets to choose 5 images. Once the images are chosen, I lightly edit them, and get them to you for download. These are high resolution images, with printing rights. Since the photography session is shared and fast paced, participants get the images at a very affordable rate.
