Cue the confetti: I am giving you all the deets on some of my favorite locations for senior pictures in Wichita, KS. My kids can attest that I’m sometimes a bit inattentive in my driving because I’m ALWAYS looking for bomb locations! Part of my job is to make each session all about YOU! Therefore, once I know what you will be wearing, I can choose my locations to complement your colors and style.
To be honest, it’s not really about the locations. They are secondary. It should be all about YOU. Hands down, the MOST IMPORTANT part of a location is the quality of the light. You can go to an awesome location, but if the light isn’t right – too dark, or too bright, you won’t get a good result.
Also, some of my favorite locations are places you would never think of. I absolutely love ditches by the side of the highway, for example. Or maybe the whole scene is kind of ugly, but there are some stairs, and when you ZOOM IN to a small part of the location, magic happens!

Best locations for senior pictures may surprise you!
Some of the best locations for senior pictures in Wichita, KS will surprise you! A beautiful bush in a parking lot, or wildflowers growing in a vacant lot, when zoomed in on, can transport the viewer to another place entirely. Many people ask me where I take photos, and when I tell them, they can’t believe it. It takes an artistic eye to zoom in and visualize it. This particular picture was taken in a ditch near the side of a busy street. I like to walk in all the parks out west to see how things are coming along. This blooms in early summer, and when you notice these flowers, you have to act fast, as they mow them right up!
Wichita Parks
Some of my favorite parks with fields to shoot in are Swanson Park, Sedgwick County Park, and Pawnee Prairie Park. My favorite is probably Pawnee Prairie https://www.wichita.gov/ParkandRec/CityParks/Pages/PawneePrairie.aspx because it has water, bridges, a cool fence, and beautiful fields. The fields don’t usually bloom until August.
Bomb graffiti walls
If you love graphic tees, ripped jeans, or skateboards, graffiti always makes a great backdrop. The place I like to go is across from Intrust Bank Arena near the railroad tracks.
Murals in Wichita, KS

Keep in mind that the direction the mural is facing is important. If it’s facing west in the evening, it will be too bright usually, until later in the evening.
Colorful Houses in Wichita
This is a row of apartments that look like you are actually on a street in Europe. They are colorful, and there are lots of options. In the summer, there are beautiful flowering bushes nearby as well that we can use. These are near Douglas and Hillside. This is a very fun location, and in addition, there are SO MANY options nearby. Crown Uptown and Traditions have darling storefronts that I like to use.
Wichita’s Union Station
Union Station has lots of possibilities. The train station is scenic in the background, the steps and glass overhang are pretty, and there are several brick roadways that look great! As you can see, this is a super fun location, and close to other urban settings as well.
Wichita Art Museum
The art museum has beautiful flowers, plants, stones, and glass that I love to use. It’s also super close to the river, which is another great location.
Parking Garages
When you want a view of the city, parking garages are perfect!
Old Town Location for senior pictures
I love to shoot in Old Town on Rock Island. There are sooo many options! Just walk around!
Playground Locations for senior pictures
Playgrounds are full of color and leading lines. Plus, it adds such a playful element to your pictures. It’s easy to have fun and be silly.
